GREENTWINS

Green Twins-Basin Port Readiness in the Baltic and North Sea Region: From Evidence to Action

Core Focus

GREENTWINS builds the evidence base and roadmap for green port transition across the Baltic and North Sea. Through participatory readiness assessment and stakeholder co-creation, the project will help ports plan for alternative fuels, shore power and vessel electrification. S comparative Green Port Readiness Assessment and a joint twin-basin roadmap and port-specific action fiches will be created.

Challenge

Ports, especially small and medium-sized ones, must prepare for alternative fuel bunkering, shore power and electrification, but lack the evidence to decide where and how. Thers is a socio-economic and organisational gap: readiness, spatial constraints, financing, skills, and community acceptance. Earlier EU projects produced technical insight that was never turned into port-specific guidance.

Key Activities

  • Map stakeholders and design the readiness assessment framework.
  • Run participatory fieldwork across port-community cases in both basins.
  • Develop a practical toolkit and a train-the-trainer programme.
  • Co-create a twin-basin roadmap and port-specific action fiches.
  • Deliver training to VET providers and disseminate results.
